Classic Cameras app now in the App Store; just a dollar through the weekend

Both the iOS and MacOS versions are now Version 2, with the improved user interface.

I’ve cut the price to a dollar through the weekend, ending Sunday at midnight. The web version will be a dollar permanently.

Now both platforms have the new embedded-geotagging feature, and it’s on my default.

This means that by default geotagging is written directly into the ingested file (raw or JPEG), instead of being written to the sidecar. If you’re using Lightroom, it’s probably better to turn this option off, to put the geotagging into the XMP, but everything should also be OK if you leave it on. For other apps (Aperture, iPhoto, ACR/Photoshop, etc.) leave the option on.

The option is in the Preferences.

ClassicCameras on the web updated

The web version of Classic Cameras has just been updated to use the new user-interface (big buttons on the home screen, instead of all those thumbnails and links).

The MacOS version already uses this new approach, and the iOS version is awaiting App Store approval from Apple.

(Note that the web version can be used by anyone, including on Windows, and costs the same $2.99 as the apps. You can demo it from the link at basepath.com.)

Just found and fixed a bug: Ingestion didn’t complete copying unless a DNG Converter was defined, whether DNG Conversion was selected or not.
